WordPress Staging

Our WordPress Hosting packages come with a full staging environment, allowing you to make a clone of your live WordPress site on a staging server in moments. You can then make changes without affecting the live site.

Create Your Staging Site

  • Login to the hosting control panel at stackcp.com.
  • In the 'WordPress Tools' section, select Staging.
  • In the 'Create Staging Site' section you'll be able to choose from the dropdown to Clone live into Staging (which copies your existing site across) or Install Default WordPress (a brand new copy of WordPress).
  • Once you've chosen, just click Create Staging Site.

Once completed, a Visit Staging button will appear. You'll need to add /wp-login.php to the end of the URL to access the login page.

Tip: It may be a good idea to put the staging site into Maintenance Mode, if you have a plugin installed. We use Coming Soon Page, Maintenance Mode, Landing Pages & WordPress Website Builder by SeedProd but other options are available.

Push Staging Changes to Live Site

  • Login to the hosting control panel at stackcp.com.
  • In the 'WordPress Tools' section, select Staging.
  • In the 'Live' section, tick the I can confirm this will overwrite my existing, live website data option.
  • Click the Clone into Live button.

This will take a few minutes to complete. We recommend then checking the changes, and if you've got no further to make immediately, then remove the staging site.

Delete the Staging Site

  • Login to the hosting control panel at stackcp.com.
  • In the 'WordPress Tools' section, select Staging.
  • In the 'Staging' section, click on Delete Staging and then you can select from Delete staging files and database (recommended) or Delete staging files only.

This will take a couple of minutes to complete.
